Generic Conventions of Alternative Rock Magazines

FRONT PAGE



  • most of the magazines have one main image on the front cover that stand out to the audience, making it eye catching

  • the magazines overlap images and text, for example; the title of the magazine might overlap the main image

  • a colour theme throughout the issue

CONTENTS PAGE



  • contents page consists of an image with the relevant page number on

  • the title of the magazine is made clear on the contents page

  • the issue number is stated on the contents page

  • typically there is review of the current issue somewhere on the page

DOUBLE SPREAD



  • the image on the double spread is large making it eyecatching towards the audience, usually taking up more than one side of the page

  • typically there is a vague headline with a sentence underneath explaining more about the story before reaching the article

  • a small logo/title of the magazine is put in the corner of each page to remind them of the magazine they are reading
